DIY: Toddler Sandbox (easy & CHEAP!)

My boy Levi (17m) loves to be outdoors. I've been trying to find cheap, frugal outdoor activities that are age appropriate. A friend of mine who lives in a condo came up with this great idea: a storage bin sandbox!!! SUPER frugal and fun for toddlers! To make your own, here's what you need:

- one storage bin w/ a lid (I used one we had just cleaned out when we had our garage sale last month)
- one 50lb. bag of play sand @ $3.86 a bag at Lowe's (not all-purpose sand, it's specifically "play sand"... both are found near concrete in a hardware store)
- misc. measuring cups (my mis-matched ones from my kitchen)
- other sand-safe toys (I found a bag of construction vehicles for $.50 at a garage sale)
TOTAL COST: under $5 (since I used an old sweater storage bin)

Find a spot to put your sandbox in your yard, on your porch, etc... (This works even if you live in an apartment, because it's easy to sweep the sand off your patio that gets spilled out!) Pour the sand in, add some toys, and you now have a toddler sandbox for anywhere from $5-$15 (depending on if you have a storage bin lying around somewhere already). Make sure to put the lid back on so that no neighborhood kitties use it as a litter box!

My son is even learning to share with the neighbor girls:

Book Review: "When God Created My Toes"

When God Created My Toes (Dandilion Rhymes)
"When God Created My Toes" by Dandi Daley Mackall is a whimsical, creative children's book that shares how God created each and every one of us from our heads to our toes. While the rhymes are goofy, they are very child-like in the fact that rhyming and being silly seems to be the main point! My little boy (17m) loved the bright pictures and actually sat still in my lap through the entire book! It was definitely a fun read as a mom, and will provide doors in the future to share with my children that God created each of those special and unique!

Please rank my review here (it's quick, easy, and painless... if it's your first time to rank a review, you will have to check your email to verify you're legit! :-)

* Disclosure: "I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review, as part of their "Blogging for Books" program."

Earn FREE $10 Gift Cards...

Start finding sales now!
I want to share with friends, family, and blog readers a few of the ways I have earned FREE gift cards in very simple ways. Today I'm sharing about "Shop It To Me".

The online website "Shop It To Me" offers all it's members FREE $10 gift cards for EVERY 10 people they have sign up under them. I already got my first $10 card in the mail awhile back (to Starbucks!!!), so it's completely legit. (You can choose from Old Navy, Sephora, Starbucks, GAP, Macy's, World Market, and more...)

How does it work? Sign up with "Shop It To Me", give your email address (I recommend using a junk email), and choose brand(s) of clothing you like to wear. Once a week (or more often if you choose), "Shop It To Me" sends you an email letting you know where some of those items are on sale.

But to get the gift card, no one has to buy anything. Not you, not your friends. They just have to sign up. (And as usual, I recommend using a junk email you set up specifically for coupons/deals).

So sign-up and start getting your family/friends to sign up under you!!!

* And yes, that's my referral link above. Most of the deals I post I don't get anything for, I'm just passing them on to others trying to live within their budget, but when I do, it's definitely a plus! So if you don't mind being a referral for me, I appreciate it a lot! If you feel uncomfortable with it, just go directly to yourself. Have a great day!

5 FREE Cards @ Shutterfly!!! (through June 9th)

If you haven't bought any Father's Day cards yet, you should check this out...  Shutterfly is offering 5 FREE personalized cards when you enter promo code "DADCARD" at checout. Shipping cost about $6 for me, which I think is great for 5 personalized cards. This is one of the cards I just made for Father's Day...  You can make 5 different cards, from any category, so I made 3 Father's Day cards and 2 birthday cards. I have ordered from Shutterfly quite a few times with these promotions, and I always love the quality of the cards!

After I checkout out, there was an offer for $10 of a future order of $10 if I shared on my blog, so of course I couldn't pass that up! :-)
